About Us Our People

Our People

Archinia is an architectural and landscape COLLABORATIVE. We team with other architects, landscape architects, archaeologists, historians, and technical experts in the fields required for the total success of each project. We build relationships with our clients based on integrity and openness and we encourage both clients and consultants to ask for what they need. We work diligently to meet deadlines and budget, within the constraints allowed by client participation. This is to say, success is our utmost goal, but we cannot achieve it alone!

These are the incredible people we team with...

Rachel Preston Prinz

Principal

Rachel is the face and founder of Archinia. She's an architectural designer, historian, and advocate. She's even a bit of a visionary. You'll never see architecture, space, or the environment the same again once she's shared her passion for great design. She's also a lecturer, tourguide, labyrinth designer, and professional writer. Her passion in architecture resides in discovering the "genius loci" - the "Spirit of Place."

Check out her CV, her list of publications, and her presentations.

bert

Bert Willemse

Design / Construction Management

Don't let his charming schoolboy looks fool you, New York’s Bert Willemse is by far and away the best architectural technician you'll meet. There's almost no problem he can't solve, and his expertise in problem solving on site is par excellance. Contractors like him because he's realistic - he's not so interested in some artsy-fartsy aspect of design that he'll favor that over functionality, affordability and buildablility. Not to mention he has absolute integrity - if he doesn't know the answer, he'll tell you so and then go find out, and he's not a slacker either. That's why Archinia will bring him on complicated projects. We know our clients and their contractors will come to depend on him.

craig

Craig Schreiber

Landscape Design

When it comes to great landscapes and amazing graphics, we trust Craig Schreiber. Colorado's Craig is the best of the best in hand architectural rendering and his landscapes are extraordinary. His respect for place, time, nature, and tradition shows in all he does. When only the finest work will do, LandArt is who we call.

dan

Dan Jones

Landscape Installation

Colorado’s Dan Jones is a masterful arborist. As he says "I do not use shears and create pieces of art from overgrown shrubs, bushes and small trees. Feel the energy and light surge around your home once your existing landscape has a makeover! No need to tear out the old shrubs and replace them. Save money and work with what you have." Visit his website at Beyond Wildflowers.

drew

Drew Deering

Public Architecture + Urban Design

Chicagoan Drew is, officially, a "Licensed Architect and Urban Designer focused on putting the pieces back together. Transforming old buildings, worn out neighborhoods, forgotten business districts, and small towns that have seen better days into places worth remembering and investing in." As he says, "My real passion is bring new life to old places, both buildings and the urban environment. Telling of the story of the places of our past. Living in the footsteps of, and forging ahead, in the places of our ancestors." Preservation + a respect for modern too... Drew's got what it takes to make our urban projects shine!

helen

Helen Risom Belluschi

Residential Design

Archinia's principal met Drew (above) and Helen when they were all Regional Associate Directors for the American Institute of Architects. This began a friendship and commitment to excellence that has lasted more than 10 years. Connecticut’s Helen, a graduate of RISD, is our expert in residential design and we believe the key to making our work stand alone. With years of experience in residential design and upfits, she’s our go-to gal for making home a place you can’t wait to get back to. And she’s a fabulous person who listens well and gives solid advice. She’s the real maven around here.

mark

Mark Henderson

Archaeology

We work on trail and acequia restoration projects, as well as archaeological architecture projects. When we do, there's one person we will not move forward without. New Mexico’s Mark Henderson is a committed career archaeologist with over 30 years experience in the field and on the ground. His integrity and commitment to excellence make him great at what he does. The mission of his firm, Chupadero Archaeological Resources, is to "encourage public participation in archeological research" where the nature of funding, project timing for fieldwork and reporting allow for the maximization of employment of 'non-traditional' archeological workers and volunteers.

patrick

Patrick Espy

Modernist Design

Licensed Colorado Architect Patrick Espy brings a modern sensibility to our team. We’ve worked with Patrick for more than 6 years and we LOVE his awesome modern eye and that his team comes with two. His father is a reknown solar designer. How can it get better than integrated architecture and solar design? We don’t think it does, that's why we will call on Patrick when the need for great modernist design arises! Not to mention, he’s just so fun to work with! Visit his Vail firm at Espy Architecture. Patrick is also an incredibly gifted modern painter.

Testimonials

"I have worked with Rachel in a number of capacities for 5 years. She finds a way of bringing projects to a higher level and brings the best out of the teams she works with. Her energy is inexhaustible and her attitude is positive at times when others begin to falter. I hope to work on design teams with Rachel throughout my career. "
Patrick Espy, AIA
