ACEQUIA CONDITION ASSESSMENT AND RESTORATION PLAN, TAOS , NMIn this project for the the Town of Taos, completed in the fall of 2011, we were contracted to provide an acequia rehabilition plan for the Taos Historic Overlay Zone. All work was completed with the approval and supervision of Taos' mayordomos. We teamed with Mark Henderson at Chupadero Archaeological Resources for the existing coditions GPS documentation and with Craig Schrieber at LandArt to capture the essence of the proposed work in sketches. |
LA UNICA COSA HISTORIC CULTURAL INVENTORY UPDATE, TAOS , NMPreparation of National Register Historic Cultural Inventory Update for La Unica Cosa at 117-119 Paseo del Pueblo Norte in Taos, NM. Once this update was completed, a historic building plaque was applied for by the owner.
“La Unica Cosa” is an updated hacienda style adobe structure. Parts of the structure reportedly date to 1865, with oral histories placing a structure on the site as far back as 1797. In the 1908 Sanborn map of Taos, the home was indicated as an “L-shaped structure” with major sections on the east and north, and minor additions on the south, actually forming an irregular “U”. In photographs taken during Irving Couse’s time there between 1906 and 1909, the structure was U-shaped, accessed by a still-existing zaguan, facing west to what was then Green Street. The home had a rear adobe wall, a well in the center courtyard, and a two-story board-and battened north-facing skylite-lit studio on the south. The grass and ivy landscaped courtyard was faced with 9/9 or 2/2 double-hung windows with variations in wood trim matching window variations, suggesting that the house had been added to over time. |

ALPINE TUNNEL, PITKIN, COCo-captain of team recording existing conditions of the town of Alpine, Colorado.
