GENTLE SPIRIT HORSE LABYRINTH, FOREST, VA

Original labyrinth is designed for use by children with learning/emotional difficulties to use while riding or walking a horse. The largest known non-circular labyrinth in the world - more than 200’ wide - installed in mowed grass. The labyrinth was commissioned by two Unitarian Minsters and installed on private property in Virginia.

SACRED CIRCLE, FOREST, VA

Archinia was asked to design and assist in construction of a sacred circle on a historic horse property. This sacred space was oriented to the cardinal and intercardinal directions, with complete resonance to the neighboring hills and mountains, and them implemented with a 13-point star hidden in the circle of standing stones.

SACRED CIRCLE, MADRE DE DIOS, PERU

What do you do when presented a sketch for a ceremonial space for a shamanic gathering for 144 people? Well, I chose to put it into CAD and tweaked the design until I could find a way to build the structure that was described to me in words. The result is the largest ceremonial space I have ever participated in the imagining of.

ABBEY CATHEDRAL, SETE, FRANCE

Co-captain of team recording the Cathedral of Valmagne, located just outside Sète in southern France. The cathedral was damaged in bombing during World War II, and has remained unrestored, excepting minor repairs to repair damaged roofs and a damaged buttress. Tasks included field-measuring buttresses, cloisters, and aisle pillars obscured by gigantic wine barrels. Professor Vivian Paul, noted Gothic building technology expert, led with assistance from Bob Warden. Teams have worked for over 10 years to document the extensive structure and cloisters.

Quote of the Day

"Because animals seem to dwell in the present moment, because their own presence is so instinctive, their attention so unwavering, they offer us a different kind of compassion than humans do. Anyone is lucky to have both human and animal comfort in their lives."
