Writing, Research & Lectures

writingthumbArchinia works with businesses, tourism organizations, newspapers and magazines to write informative articles that emphasize the personal experiences that set a place apart, and we are continually on the lookout for new ways of encountering and sharing the beauty of the places where we live, work, and play.

With interests in geology, archaeology, sacred design, historic preservation, modern art and architecture, food, and wine... our writing has covered architectural and cultural perspectives on travel from Okinawa, Japan to Santa Fe, New Mexico to Vicenza, Italy.

Current major writing projects are documenting the Architectural Pattern Language of Taos, New Mexico; documenting lessons from archaeology that can be used in moern design for TEDxABQ in September 2011, documenting the archaeological and architectural language of utopian communities throughout the world; documenting design criteria for historic pack and wagon trails; and documenting the influence of astronomy on architecure.

Testimonials

"Rachel has discovered within herself a strong motivation for scholarship and research. (She) has, by all standards, a thorough architectural education, a two semester study in Italy and a summer working as a preservation–design assistant in France with one of the leading Medievalists in the profession. Her personality reflects... intellectual growth and a synthesis of ideas. She also has an innate ability to understand architecture as design and as theory. I feel strongly about (her) potential as a scholar, a designer and as a future university instructor."
Joseph M. Hutchinson, Professor of Architectual History, Texas A&M

Quote of the Day

"Nice work in its way – not boring, certainly, the supple capacity to make oneself up as one goes..."
